Reason to be a professional or a freelancer is the freedom.
Rule 1 – Have fun
Rule 2 – Only work with clients that you can hit home runs with.
Can’t help hit home run when you really understand client.
What you good at and really passionate at.
Financial stress is the worse stress of all.
Communicating value – don’t be insercure, own the agenda for the meeting, own the process of the meeting.
Best way to find out value is to ask lots of questions.
Go Wide – Go Deep. Why are we doing it? Why else? Then identify what is important.
We pitch because we are insecure in our own abilities.
Proposals are not a spec doc. Agreement on paper. Propose a clear solution to overcome problem or achieve goals. Proposal is not a sales document.
Key distinctions – price, cost , fee – out replace with investment.
Pricing – hour rate used when can’t agree on value exchange. We avoid pricing because to do it we need to understand value.
- Identify sweet spot – list things really good at on one side of sheet and list thing enjoy on the other side and see where the overlap is.
